  • Bringing home baby can be such an awarding experience! There are a few things that every new parent should know, these little bundles of joy require so much attention ,and do not come with instructions. Hopefully, some of these tips will help. Make sure that you have a good safe car seat to bring baby home. Never put rear facing car seats in the front seat. It is a good idea for someone to drive the mommy home, and mommy and baby ride in the backseat together.

The little suction bulb they give you at the hospital comes in handy, for cleaning up the mucus left from the birthing, keep it close by for those incidents that you may need to use when least expected. When lying the baby down for nap or bedtime, make sure the newborn is lying on his or her back. This is recommended to help prevent SIDS. (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). When or before the baby is 12 weeks old, take the bumper pads out of the crib and keep the crib clear of pillows, stuffed animals, and other things that could cause suffocation.

The new baby will need to be fed, bathed, diaper changed, and care for the umbilical cord. Sponge the baby with luke warm water, until the cord comes off. Alcohol dabbed on with a cotton ball can help this occur, sometimes sooner than the expected. When the cord falls off give baths in baby tub, make sure to test the water temp. Feed the baby every 3 to 4 hrs up to 4 oz of formula or if breast feeding every two hours, 20 minutes on each breast. Change the little ones diaper when it is wet or poopy. Hope these tips help, enjoy the little bundle of joy.
